Why do you call Jesus Yeshua?
Often you will hear us call him "Yeshua" or "Yeshua HaMoshiach" because we refer to the Messiah by the
name His mother gave Him. (Ha-Mosh-i-auk is Messiah in Hebrew) Well, as far as we can tell--Mary
didn't know English or Greek. She heard and obeyed the message given to her in a dream of what to
name Him: Yeshua. Separately, angels came to both Mary (Luke 1:31) and her future husband Joseph
(Matt 1:21) and told them what to call this coming child. In Hebrew, Yeshua actually means salvation. So,
the people in Israel who knew Him when He walked the earth called Him "Yeshua." Should we hear and
obey the same instructions or follow the habit of the world?
Do you believe Jesus is your savior?
Yes, we believe that Yeshua is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Eternal One in Whom all the fullness of
deity dwells in bodily form, and who is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us, and whose glory
we beheld, the glory of the uniquely begotten Son of God, full of grace and truth. THE GOOD NEWS is
that Yeshua HaMashiach paid our "death penalty" sentence. We believe our salvation is gifted through trust
in God's promise (Gal 3:5-8 & 14) that this death penalty we have so richly earned is covered. This
IS the same promise made to Abraham and we, by accepting this truth, become one of Abraham's children,
too! (Gal 3:7) Yes, indeed, there are Jews by birth and if you believe in the promise you are adopted into
the family!
Was Yeshua (Jesus) a Rabbi?
Rabbi means teacher and Torah means instruction (not law) in Hebrew.
Yeshua is the Living Torah according to John 1:1-14: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him;
and without him was NOT any thing made (that was made). In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God,
whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him
might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light,
which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him,
and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received
him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were
born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth."
So in the sense that He is the living breathing instruction, YES, he'd have to be the perfect teacher.
Do you believe the law was nailed to the cross?
No, emphatically no! The “written record” of my offenses were nailed to the cross according to Colossians
2:14. If I get a speeding ticket and a judge throws it out in court, the speed limit of that road does not change.
No one pulls down the speed limit signs only my ticket is eliminated. This is exactly the same message of that
verse. Also, the curse of the law (my death penalty sentence) was nailed to the cross with Yeshua when he
took my place (Gal 3:13). The law was perfectly kept by Yeshua and He said, "If you love me you will keep
my commandments (John 14:15 & 21)." "I am not come to destroy (the law) but to fulfil (Matt 5:17)."
Are you a Christian?
I strive to pattern myself after my teacher Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Christ) and follow Him in the way
and the truth. I am a believer in the Most High God, that God is One; salvation is to the Jew first and then to
the Gentile; the Shabbat is on the 7th day and the other Holy Days are to be kept forever; and last but NOT
least that Torah (which really translates as instruction, not law) is the answer to all problems and THE
measure of all truth; and that the prophets, writings and Apostles are inspired by God and profitable for
teaching, for evidence, for correction and for instruction in righteousness. My roots are not from Antioch
and I am a believer (Acts 5:14, 1 Tim 4:12) in the most high God.
What is this 9th of Av all about?
The 9th of Av falls in the 9th day of the 5th month on God's calendar (see the 2nd chart for details). This
month's name is the same Hebrew word for father. Av came directly after the month that the golden calf was
made, which was named "Idolatry" (Tammuz). Perhaps the symbolic reminder is to return to The Father after
idolatry--what do you think? Regardless, that idea was not realized by the 10 of 12 spies that reported back
to the Children of Israel on this very day in Bible History. Overwhelmed by fears over safety and welfare,
they allowed doubt to take root. Standing in doubt, they were slanderous of God's Word and promise
because He said He would go before them, fight their battles and deliver them into the land.
What is idolatry?
Idolatry includes much more than setting up an object and praying to it. Anytime we decide that something
else is more important to do than God's verbatim instructions, we have just created a mental idol to follow
instead of God's Word. Remember, John 1:1-17 equates God with His Word. Idolatry is not a complicated
process, it is every disobedient choice we have ever made.
Here are several frequently asked questions from people. It's not an exhaustive list, but a start and
new questions will be added as we get them. (Below the form are videos and Q&A's)
