VAEIRA – and I appeared
Ex 6:2-9:35 / Ez 28:25-29:21 / Mark 3

Ex 6:2,3 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD
hwhy: And I appeared
unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name
JEHOVAH
hwhy was I not known to them.

Gen 12:7,8 And the LORD hwhy appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this
land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD
hwhy, who appeared unto him. And he removed
from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west,
and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD
hwhy, and called upon the name
of the LORD
hwhy.
Heb 11:8,9 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after
receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he
sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and
Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
Ex 5:2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know
not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
Who is the Lord? Challenging God’s (Existence) Father
Why should I obey His voice? Challenging God’s concern for the world (Providence)Son
Why should I let Israel go? Challenging God’s ability to intervene (Omnipotence)HS
In regards to Pharaoh’s question “Who is the LORD”
hwhy declares:
Ex 7:5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I stretch forth My hand upon
Egypt, and bring out the sons of Israel from among them.
Ex 7:15 You go to Pharaoh in the morning.
Ex 7:17 Thus says the LORD, In this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold! I will smite with
the rod that is in my hand upon the waters in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
